Design Philosophy

This quarter, I am taking INDS 102- Form, Space, and Order with Prof. Robinson. Our first assignment was to create a design philosophy based on our value system. We had to write words that defined who we are, and words that defined what design means to me.

WORDS THAT DEFINE ME :

SWEET. DRIVEN. ORGANIZED. CREATIVE. OUTGOING. ECLECTIC. GOOD NATURED. FREE SPIRIT. OPEN MINDED. PASSIONATE. ACCEPTING. TRUSTWORTHY. LOYAL. CLASSY.

WHAT DESIGN MEANS TO ME:
FUNCTIONAL. ORGANIZED. EFFICIENT. EXPRESSIVE. BEAUTIFUL. ORIGINAL. INVITING. HARMONIOUS. INNOVATIVE. DURABLE. EASY.

As if this wasn't hard, we then had to find images that visually reflect us and our thoughts and feelings about design in order to further define our personal design philosophy:

MY DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Design is an ever evolving journey with endless possibilities. It is all around us, and deep within us. Design is a way we express who we are as individuals. Our unique, inner spirit is reflected in all things we do, say, wear, and the environment we live in.   When it comes to interior design, it is an essential way of life. The importance of making your home a haven to relax in and your work environment an efficient and organized place, makes your life easier and better. Form and function merged with beauty creating sophisticated room for modern living. As a designer, I want to enhance people’s lives by instilling these attributes into my design. My ultimate desire is to create space, that is a personal extension of the client’s style, that will inspire in the pursuit of their life, and to create solutions that will make a difference in a client’s world or our world.
